I'M RAISING MONEY FOR SICKKIDS FOUNDATION IN MARK HALPERN’S MEMORY
Mark was brilliant, funny, elegant, erudite, generous, and deeply appreciated for his exceptionally fine character. He was an accomplished solicitor licensed in Canada, England, Wales, and Japan, a published author of beautifully written and extremely humorous short stories about Westerners living in Japan, and an outstanding jazz musician.
On March 13, 2022, at age 62, after a courageous fight with brain cancer, Mark passed away peacefully at his home in Denenchofu, Tokyo, surrounded by his loving family. Mark left us far too soon. He is deeply missed by his beloved wife Tomoko, adored children Aska and Randy, cherished siblings (and their spouses) Howard, Chaia (Moshe), Emily, John (Ann) and sister-in-law Akiko (Tomonobu), and by his nieces and nephews, loving cousins and many friends.
Born in North Warren, Pennsylvania, Mark lived mostly in Toronto before emigrating to Japan in 1993. His family decided to create this fundraiser for family and friends who wish to commemorate the incredible person that he was. (Full obituary can be found on the Toronto Star’s website.)
