Welcome to My Personal Page
I was born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), a condition where the diaphragm does not form properly. This anomaly allows abdominal organs to move into the chest cavity, severely restricting lung development and posing life-threatening consequences.
My diaphragm was surgically repaired at SickKids. I am grateful for the outstanding surgical team that saved my life and for all of the subsequent care I received throughout my childhood. Despite research advancements, many babies born with CDH continue to suffer from the many complications this disease presents. As such, I am committed to giving back to the CDH community through research and raising awareness.
I began playing tennis as a child and started competing when I was just eight years old. As a CDH survivor, I had to work hard to overcome the physical challenges of having underdeveloped lungs. Despite the discomfort and difficulties, I loved the sport and remained steadfast in preparing for competition at ever higher national and international levels. My perseverance enabled me to achieve a respectable national ranking (126 in the U.S., UTR 9) and the opportunity to play college tennis at Bowdoin (Maine, USA).
Following graduation, I returned to Toronto to conduct CDH research at SickKids. I am currently pursuing my master's in medical science at University of Toronto, where I also play on the Varsity Blues tennis team.
For those in the Toronto area, I am offering 1-hour tennis hits in exchange for a $50 donation to benefit CDH research at SickKids so they can:
- Continue breakthrough research, turning today’s discoveries into tomorrow’s cures
- Build partnerships across the country and around the world, so all babies born with CDH get the care they deserve
