A sesquicentennial (try saying that out loud a few times) is a very big deal. How many organizations in Canada can say they have stood the test of time, survived and thrived, and remained relevant from one generation to the next through a century and a half? It’s probably a pretty short list – and SickKids is on it. 

We’ve managed to do that thanks in large part to the support of our entire community. An organization as special as ours needs to be cherished and protected. To that end, SickKids Foundation will be kick-starting a fundraising drive around our 150th birthday that I am sure will inspire the entire community to rally around SickKids. So, in honour of our birthday, I’m asking all staff to consider making a personal donation, in whatever amount you feel comfortable with, to support our institution that is a beacon of hope for children here and around the world. I’m challenging our staff community with a goal of $300,000 raised by December 31. $150,000 of that represents our past 150 years, and another $150,000 that represents the next 150. The link can also be shared with your family and friends who may wish to support our cause.

I know this incredible team can do this!  And our families will be so grateful for what these funds will enable. Thank you for your ongoing dedication and support for SickKids.
